2017 EDR Summit

Steve MacInnis, Tyler Dyck and Tyler Haladuick attended a 3 day training summit in Houston Texas from 06 to 08 March 2017.  The summit put on by Collision Publishing, brought together industry experts for presentations focused on Event Data Recorders (EDR’s) found in light trucks, passenger cars, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. An introduction and summary of data potentially available from vehicle infotainment and telematics systems was also provided by Berla.

The EDR Summit (formerly CDR Summit) focused on EDR research, collection and analysis for vehicle crash investigation. Most noteworthy is this is the only conference in the United States dedicated to users of the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Tool. Since EDR technology is growing at such a rapid pace, topics were expanded to include additional tools used in the collection of EDR data.

While most of the attendees are users of the Bosch CDR Tool, the EDR Summit is open to anyone who has an interest in learning more about event data recorders and how they are used in vehicle safety and investigation.  Typical attendees of this Summit include law enforcement, insurance (SIU and claims), government, legal, and collision reconstructionists.  This year’s summit brought about 175-250 attendees.
